Earth Month – “Every Day is Earth Day”

April 18 – May 24

Every year, Earth Day comes and goes without much fanfare locally because of our late spring break and the mass exodus after the ski area closes to warmer climes and drier trails. You can still pay tribute to the planet during Yampa Valley Sustainability Council’s month-long Every Day is Earth Day celebration.

: A Film for Earth Day

Featuring the voice of Mary-Louise Parker as the influential writer and scientist, Rachel Carson draws from Carson’s own writings, letters and recent scholarship, to illuminate both the public and private life of the soft-spoken, shy scientist who launched the modern environmental movement.

Give Your Stuff Away Day
Saturday, May 13

At no cost, with zero effort, and in one weekend, help your neighbors and yourself, while diverting waste from the landfill. On May 13, take your valuable, but unwanted, stuff to the curb for others to take for free. In order for this community give-away to work, “givers” are asked to follow some guidelines: 1) No trash, recyclables, illegal or dangerous items; 2) No food, drugs, chemicals or weapons; and 3) Set out only safe, valuable items. If your stuff doesn’t get taken, please don’t take it personally or leave it at the curb. Instead, donate it to a local reuse outlet. Visit YVSC’s Reuse and Repair Guide online at www.yvsc.org for resources.
