YVSC Sustainable Schools has been busy this week planting a few hundred trees at both the Strawberry Park and Soda Creek Elementary Schools in conjunction with ReTree Steamboat 2012 this weekend, June 9th.
In an effort to ensure the survival of the 3,000 trees YVSC ordered this year, additional plantings were scheduled to help keep an eye on the saplings during this potentially dry summer. By having the schools participate, the children get a great lesson and the responsibility of having to keep an eye on the trees. They also get the benefit of watching their hard work come to fruition as the trees grow.
It’s not too late to help us plant the final count of trees at the official ReTree Steamboat event on June 9th. Registration links are on our ReTree Steamboat page, and spots are still open for the Sustainability Expo. It takes a community to rebuild a forest, and this event is great for all ages and abilities.
