Helping to keep the river clean

A dozen volunteers, half of of which were children, gathered to put a new coat of spray paint next to the storm drains along the river in downtown Steamboat today to help keep the river clean.

The project is part of Yampatika’s educational program for river health, to help educate river enthusiasts, bike path users, visitors, and locals about not dumping waste or anything but water down the storm drains because it flows directly into the Yampa River.

YVSC Executive Director Sarah Jones brought her husband and two kids;  “It was fun as well as functional – the kids had a great time spray painting the stencils onto the sidewalk and blacktop.”
