The mission of Yampa Valley Sustainability Council is to provide leadership to advance environmental, economic, and social sustainability for current and future generations through education, programs and collaboration among individuals, organizations, businesses and government. YVSC has become most well known for its Zero Waste program, which has become a model for other communities around the country. Zero Waste events alone have impacted over 63,000 people since 2009.
YVSC is a busy organization that needs your support! YVSC houses five programs total: Talking Green, Green Building, Zero Waste, Sustainable Schools and Yampa Valley Recycles; as well as 6 annual events: Earth Hour, ReTree Steamboat, Community Recycles Drop-Off Events, Green Building Tour, Secret Supper Club, and our monthly Community Meetings. In addition, YVSC plans to launch a new initiative in 2013: Energy FIT.
