The “Green Machine”: Large event recycling
The “Green Machine” was dedicated in 2007 as a large event public free recycling unit. Yampa Valley Recycles provided the funding to create this container that is easily transportable to various locations throughout the Yampa Valley. Waste Management provides the transport of this container. Funding to service the Green Machine is provided by Routt County Environmental Health and tipping fees at the landfill.
The following items can be recycled in this container: aluminum/tin/steel cans, #1 through # 7 plastics , newspaper, office paper/junk mail, paperboard (e.g, pizza, noodle, snack boxes), wax-lined and milk and juice containers, and glass.
NO motor/pesticide containers, plastic bags/wrap, styrofoam or corrugated cardboard is accepted at these drop offs.
These units are for residential use only. NO COMMERCIAL USE PLEASE!
These large green containers are available to all Routt County residents for FREE recycling at the following locations:
- Steamboat Springs: Friday thru Sunday at Safeway
These fill up quickly, and we are currently exploring solutions - Yampa: 2nd full week of the month at Ladies Aid Hall, 83 East 1st St.
- Oak Creek: 4th full week of the month at Oak Creek City Park
